‘OUR PROGRAM HAS BEEN REVITALIZED THANKS TO GERED GEREEDSCHAP’
Paul Ogwang has been an instructor in Motor Vehicle Technology at Pioneer Technical Institute (PTI) for four years and has faced many challenges during this time. In this interview, he shares his experiences and the impact Gered Gereedschap has had on the program and the students.
Paul, can you tell us about your experiences as an instructor at PTI?
Paul: “Teaching at PTI is a unique experience, but it is not without its challenges. One of the biggest problems we face as instructors is the inability of many students to pay tuition fees and other necessary expenses. This directly impacts their education and motivation. Additionally, we also face limited resources and materials, which makes it difficult for us to train our students effectively in practical skills.”
How has Gered Gereedschap helped you?
Paul: “Gered Gereedschap has supported us in various ways. They have helped us in three key areas where we were struggling: tools, instructor training, and sponsorship for needy students. Some students were so poor that they couldn’t afford the tuition fees. Gered Gereedschap stepped in to sponsor them, significantly increasing their chances of completing their education.”
What impact have the new tools had on teaching?
Paul: “Before the support from Gered Gereedschap, we were facing a serious shortage of tools, and the quality was very poor. Since they provided us with better and more advanced tools and machines, the situation has improved significantly. This has increased the students’ motivation and helped them better appreciate the course. The quality of our teaching materials is now much better, allowing us to offer a more effective and hands-on education.”
How has the instructor training changed the way you teach?
Paul: “The training we received from Gered Gereedschap has been extremely helpful for us as instructors. We have learned new and improved skills for delivering information to our students. These improvements have made the delivery of our training curriculum much easier. Although we still face a shortage of certain materials, I realize that thanks to the support from Gered Gereedschap, we are now in a much better position than before.”
