Gered Gereedschap is an NGO that already supports craftsmanship in Africa for almost 40 years. We do so by making tools, machines and knowledge about craftsmanship and technical entrepreneurship available to craftsmen. To achieve our goals we work together with local organizations and individual craftsmen.
For our EQUIP program we are searching for a:
LOCAL REPRESENTATIVE UGANDA
What are you going to do?
As a local representative of Gered Gereedschap in Uganda you are the link between the head office in Amsterdam and (potential) partner organizations in Uganda. This concerns technical schools, entrepreneurs (entrepreneurial organizations), trade unions, NGOs, and also potential donors.
You are in contact with and visit potential partners in Uganda who can help us to achieve our objectives. You identify the possibilities for cooperation with these partners and collect data that is needed to develop a concrete project proposal. You will also visit partners with whom we are already cooperate. You’re monitoring the progress of the projects that are in progress. If necessary, you give recommendations to the local partners.
Finally, you act as a representative of Gered Gereedschap for potential donors (funds) that are located in Uganda. You work independently but have regular contact with your colleagues from Gered Gereedschap in Amsterdam. It is a job for 1 day a week.
Who are you?
You are someone with an entrepreneurial mind who is good at relation management. By inspiring people you are able to expand the activities of Gered Gereedschap in Uganda. The specific manners in Uganda are familiar to you. If necessary you are able to act “directive” as the progress of a program this requires. Preferably you live in Kampala or Jinja. Also affinity with ngo’s is recommended.
