AID THE NEEDY BOOKS PROGRESS WITH RECEIVED TOOLS

Gered Gereedschap has been able to support yet another great organisation. Aid the Needy in Kenya received a large number of A class tools, and hand operated and treadle sewing machines. The organisation can offer even more rural youth a vocational training with these tools.

Aid the Needy is located in the village of Sondu, Kenya. Far away from the big cities. The location and limited facilities give these young people little chance to develop. Aid the Needy, established in 2017 by young people from the community, makes changes to this situation. The organisation aims to fight poverty on a local level and to strengthen economic power of the rural community.

Various workshops: from woodworking to car engineering

Aid the Needy wants to develop a sustainable community. It is therefore important that young people can get training. The organisation focusses on youth from rural communities between the ages of 18 and 35 year who, because of poverty, did not go beyond primary school. There is also a special programme for young persons with a disability. Young people can attend workshops in the field of tailoring, woodworking, car engineering and electrical engineering.

More practical training thanks to donated tools

Gered Gereedschap has provided toolsets for woodworking, metalworking, electrical engineering and car engineering. But the youth of Aid the Needy can also get to work with the donated hand operated and treadle sewing machines. Pamela Atieno Anyumba, director of Aid the Needy, is happy: “Asante sana!” Swahili for: “Many thanks!”. “The tools we received are of excellent quality”, Pamela writes. Thanks to the tools we can grow even faster and make progress.” Pamela hopes for a long-lasting cooperation with Gered Gereedschap. To enable Aid the Needy to continue to train young people from the region to become craftsmen and women in the coming years.
